You seem to be in the know – thanks for the updates. How bat were ‘FNX’s numbers? I figured ‘BCN’s demise would have given them a new lease on life. Or are terrestrial ratings just so low across the board that only the conglomerates (i.e. Clear Channel) profitable?

I have heard that Clear Channel may well hire local drive-time DJ’s for the new “Mia 101.7″.

I have also heard that as soon as a firm date for the transfer of control for 101.7 is set, WFNX will make plans for a six-hour farewell broadcast featuring recent and former air personalities leading up to the time that WFNX becomes Mia 101.7. They reportedly want to give the station a proper send-off.

Thanks for the heads up. Hopefully, it’ll be a real station with real DJs and that “Mia” isn’t the Spanish equivalent of one of those “Jack FM”-types of stations that were rolled out across the country a few years ago.

Generic radio is not a good thing, regardless of format!

Sometime between July 8 and August 6, depending on how soon the FCC approves the deal, WFNX’s call letters will change to WKOX-FM and will switch to a simulcast of the Spanish contemporary format of WKOX-AM.

It will be a big boost for WKOX: While their daytime signal on AM is a decent one, art night, it goes directional, cuts power, and misses much of the Boston radio market.

“Mia 101.7″ is coming.

What a den of chieves that was! Man… I love watching Bruce jam with people. He carries it off so well. That was tremendous. The rumor I heard at about 7 PM was that Ringo was soundchecking with Paul. That would have been good, but this totally smoked.
