WHAT THEY SAY
The Almighty Redd Kross: Hecker, McDonald, McDonald, McDonald
Some news from the Redd Kross front – Jeff McDonald and wife/Go-Go Charlotte Caffey will be joining, among others, America’s Favorite DJ Steve Jones, Billy Zoom from X, various Vandals and Dickies, and a couple of actor-types (including Courtney Cox) at the 5th annual Johnny Ramone Tribute Night, this Saturday at the Hollywood Forever Cemetary in L.A. Man, Johnny had a lot of friends for being a right wing, douchebag Yankees fan.
And speaking of RK, remember that Got LIVE If You Must! DVD that was supposedly released last year? The one that nobody could actually get their hands on? Well, some candidate for sainthood managed to and they posted it all on Youtube. From January, ’07, at the Joy Eslava in Madrid, and it’s all here. But here’s “Switchblade Sister” and “Jimmy’s Fantasy” for your convenience:
Lastly, prodigal Kross lead guitarist (and junior high science teacher extraordinaire) Robert Hecker teaches us how to play “What They Say” on PlayThisRiff.com. Check it out.
Speaking of wayward members and reunions only seen on Youtube… guess who showed up at the Minus Five’s Athens gig Monday night? GENTLEMAN FARMER BILL BERRY, that’s who. Oh, and The Mills tagged along as well.
Dig Berry/Buck/Mills/Wynn/McCaughey/Pitmon doing “The Ballad Of John & Yoko” and “Hang On, Sloopy”. Ever get the feeling these guys occasionally might be kind of psyched when Stipe isn’t around to lend gravitas to the proceedings?
Lastly, Bruce is doing the album thing during his final Giants Stadium stand kicking off this weekend. The schedule:
TONIGHT: Born To Run
FRIDAY, Oct. 2: Darkness On The Edge Of Town
SATURDAY, Oct. 3: Born In The U.S.A.
THURSDAY, Oct. 8: Born To Run
FRIDAY, Oct. 9: Born In The U.S.A.
We’ll be present for the first-ever Born In The U.S.A. show, so to take this post full circle…
…once again, Courtney Cox.

Excellent post. Good to see the Kross in action. I love “are you peaking yet?” There’s a great band down here in Nashville called the Shazam, who would be a perfect tour partner for RK. http://www.myspace.com/theshazam
